It has been more than a year since I posted here.
I could write a long explanation, but there really isn’t a dramatic one. Work stayed busy. Life filled the available space. The blog became one of those things I kept meaning to get back to when I had more time.
Apparently, “more time” doesn’t just show up.
So today I spent part of my Saturday working on the blog again. College football was on in the background, family was nearby, and I slowly started cleaning things up—rewriting pages, fixing what no longer fit, and thinking about what I actually want this place to become.
I still want to write about HVAC. That part hasn’t changed.
There are field stories worth telling, simple things homeowners should understand, and plenty of lessons that never seem to make it into a manual. I also want to talk honestly about working in the trades—the good days, the frustrating ones, and everything in between.
But I’m into other stuff too.
I follow the markets. I read about the economy. Sometimes I’ll pull up the numbers on an HVAC manufacturer or supply company just to see how the business is doing.
I guess it comes from wanting to know how things work.
On a service call, you don’t just stare at the furnace and hope the problem announces itself. You check a few things, follow the clues, and try to figure out what doesn’t add up. Looking at a company feels a little like that. The numbers might say one thing. The people actually buying, selling, installing, and fixing the equipment might tell you something else.
I find that interesting.
I’m not a Wall Street expert, and I’m definitely not here to tell anybody what stock to buy. I’m an HVAC tech who likes digging into this stuff and occasionally has an opinion. Some of those opinions will probably be wrong. That’s part of learning.
So this blog may wander around a little. There will be HVAC stories, homeowner tips, thoughts about the trade, and looks at some of the companies that make the equipment and parts we use every day.
There will probably be some sports, books, music, and other things mixed in too. Nobody comes home from work and thinks about their job every minute of the night. At least I hope not.
I’m also not promising a perfect posting schedule. I tried making those promises before, and the archive tells you how that worked out.
For now, I’m just starting again.
No big relaunch. No carefully planned content calendar. Just a Saturday afternoon, a half-rebuilt blog, and a few things I feel like writing about.
We’ll see where it goes.
